Volunteers on the International Youth Forum "Seliger 2012"

17 july 2012

From 1 July to 2 August the International Youth Forum "Seliger 2012" took place at Lake Seliger, where the most humanistic session "The technology of goodness" was opened. It started with a series of Olympic and volunteer lessons for Forum members given by the staff and volunteers of Volunteer Center “Sochi 2014” of Sholokhov Moscow State University for the Humanities.

Volunteering in Russia is still slightly popular. The session "The technology of goodness" is an opportunity to explain the country's youth that being a volunteer is not only helpful, but honorable and great. Staff and volunteers of Volunteer Center based of Sholokhov Moscow State University for the Humanities came to the Youth Forum in order to tell young people about the twenty-six volunteer centers set up in Russia for the recruitment and training of the Sochi 2014 volunteers.

The Volunteer Center "Sochi 2014" MFPU "Synergy" is involved in organizing the second "International session". "The international session" of the Youth Forum is an international project aimed to unite the leaders of the future right now. The session will be filled not only with interesting educational program and bright sport events but also with communication in 93 languages. That is the exactly number of countries of “The International session” the participants of the Forum came from. The Volunteer Center "Sochi 2014" MFPU "Synergy" has prepared 40 volunteers-interpreters who are fluent in English and other foreign languages. Volunteers are the curators of the 20 groups: they attend and assist foreign students everywhere.

Despite the bad weather in the first few days, we've managed to get good news from our volunteers, who are full of energy and enthusiasm.

Artem Bitkov, the MFPU “Synergy” volunteer, shared his impressions on the early days of his work:
- The first day at Lake Seliger will stay in the memory for a long time. As we arrived, the storm warning was announced. But thanks to organizers’ professional skills, nobody was injured. After lunch we filled in the necessary documents, hung wet stuff and went for a long-awaited rest.

The volunteer Evglevsky Alexey shared his impressions on the daily training:
- Today I listened to the lecture devoted the questions of leadership by Mark Zuckerberg from Harvard. It's just unreal great!

The Volunteer Center "Sochi 2014" MFPU "Synergy" wishes good luck to all Forum members and is waiting for new volunteers’ messages about their lives at Lake Seliger.
